Hi, I’m River

As the daughter of an English teacher, I grew up dodging the question “Are you going to be a teacher, too?” with as much tact and southern grace as possible. 

After graduating from the University of West Florida with a bachelor’s in Creative Writing in 2018, I quickly took on numerous editing projects, contributed copywriting services for lucrative clients, and started my own blog to host my ideas, passions, and writing portfolio. 

I enjoy storytelling in every medium: film, music, books, etc. I consider myself a storyteller, and I understand the cooperative components needed to bring a narrative to life.

I have lived the Northwest Florida area for most of my life and the opportunities that have been available to me are indeed a blessing, but I am eager to return the favor to the community.

I spent the next year after graduation transitioning into a freelance lifestyle. I always wanted the freedom to be my own boss, to have a flexible schedule, to be the master of my time, and to work from a place of total alignment with my most authentic self.

Once I fully stepped into this lifestyle, I quickly realized there was still work to be done. I finally achieved the freedom I desired, but I still needed to learn how to be my own boss, hold myself accountable, and create a routine that was flexible while offering stability in my day-to-day.

It was during this transition and reflection that I had the inspiration to work with others on a similar path. By developing my intuition and creating a mindset routine to establish my foundation within, I know I am acting, behaving, and living in alignment with my core values and my integrity. 

In the midst of a global pandemic in May 2020, I completed a second bachelor’s degree in Communications with a focus on social media communication and film production.

With an opportunity to re-evaluate where I wanted to take my work next, I founded my brand and business Gigcraft Media, LLC.

“Gigcraft” is a word I made up to describe career I am carving out for myself—one that is led by a passion to create.

My mission with Gigcraft is three-fold:

• Partner one-on-one with other creators and guide them towards their inherent clarity and confidence in their vision

• Build a community and be a resource for other professional creatives and creators. “Gigcraft” is a word anyone can use to describe their work.

• Sponsor and create a network of Gigcraft Media Productions.
